Some people come to Key West to snorkel, some people come to get up close and personal with dolphins and some come to enjoy the rich history and culture this tiny little island has to offer. There is no shortage of things to do in Key West, but when you have the family with you, it’s especially important to come up with things that keep everyone entertained.

Key West is chock full of history, beautiful architecture, interesting scenic tours and most importantly, an abundance of water based activities. If you enjoy being out on the water, you’ve come to the right place, and if you love being in the water as much as you do on land, you have to trying snorkeling in Key West!

Key West has a lovely coral reef system located just about seven miles from shore. The reef system is bursting with hard and soft corals (about 110 species), sponges, jellyfish, gorgeous tropical fish (more than 500 species!), anemones, lobsters, crabs, rays, nurse sharks (don’t worry; they’re pretty much harmless to humans), sea turtles, and more.

If you love lighthouses (and frankly, who doesn’t?), then you’ll want to be sure that you visit the Key West Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters Museum.
